Police shoot 5 #EndSARS protesters in Abuja

Five #EndSARS protesters were reportedly killed by police in Abuja.

According to DailyTrust, the sad incident took place on Tuesday in the Dutse Alhaji district of the Bwari Municipal Council, PKT.

As a result, the Dutse Alhaji police post was set on fire and several cars were set on fire.

An eyewitness told the Daily Trust that the protest, which began around 8 a.m., was initially peaceful until a group of police officers arrived in four trucks.

“Immediately, the police arrived and started shooting at the demonstrators, as a result of which five victims were killed.

“This event caused outrage among other Protestant youths, who went to set fire to the Duce Alhaji police station, despite the fact that several commuter vehicles were burned,” the witness said.

He said that after the shooting, the police immediately left the scene and the bodies of the victims were evacuated to the Bwari General Hospital.

EndSARS protesters blocked the main road connecting Kuje city with the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua highway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The development forced commercial and private cars and government officials to turn back from the bridge of the Omega Church, where #EndSARS protesters gathered.

Despite the movement of police and military vehicles patrolling the area, the stalemate has not yet disappeared.

The Daily Trust learned that protesters also blocked the road to Gos Airport.
