Police warn local doctors not to hand out amulets to criminals

Local doctors have been warned by the Ebony Police Command to refrain from casting spells on criminals to commit evil deeds in the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Loveth Odah, issued the warning in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Friday in Abakaliki.

Odah, who said the command is committed to protecting life and property, urged local doctors in the state and the country as a whole to stay away from illegal activities.

According to NAN, on April 30, police found the decomposed bodies of two young men in a shallow grave in the Uduku Igbudu forest in Agubia, in the Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi.

The victims were allegedly abducted and buried alive in the forest by the kidnappers, including two local doctors arrested by the police.

During police exhumation of their decomposing bodies, Oda said the victims were blindfolded and tied with ropes around their necks.

“We went to the forest with experts, the bodies were exhumed and handed over to their relatives for burial, and the police investigation is in its final stages,” he said.

The PPRO explained that two local doctors allegedly abducted two young men on April 12 to force their relatives to withdraw the case against their boys.

“Yes, citizens have the right to practice any religion, but when it comes to illegality, this is unacceptable.

“Avoid illegal businesses that use religion, the police will arrest anyone who does it, even if it is a local doctor,” Odah said.
