poorest legislature in Nigeria in the world
A Reps spokesperson says Nigeria’s legislature is the poorest in the world, “so its members are dying of disease.

House spokesman Benjamin Kalou said on Tuesday that the National Assembly is the poorest parliament in the world.
Mr. Kalu said this in response to a question about the status of the investigation reports and the alleged compromise by lawmakers on some of the reports.
He denied compromise claims and blamed COVID-19 for delays in reviewing the reports.
Mr. Kalu added that lawmakers are getting sick due to pressure from voters for financial demands.
“As for the compromise, you would see it on the legislators. This is the poorest parliament. You won’t see legislators living in luxury. Compromise with what? With position or money? These guys are in pain, ”said Mr. Kalu.
“This is why most of the illnesses they experience are heart attacks. This is some kind of breakdown caused by the voltage of their components. The truth must be told whether you understand it or not. Tell the press that electoral pressure is killing members of the National Assembly. It’s true. The pressure is too great, ”he said.
Since the beginning of this ninth session, four senators and three members of the House of Representatives have passed away from various ailments.
The last of these, a member of the Chamber, Ossie Prestige, from Abia State, died a few days ago in a German hospital.
In 2020, the National Assembly was allocated 125 billion in the budget, and 134 billion was allocated to the parliament in the 2021 budget.
