Senior Special Assistant for Media and Advertising to President of Nigeria Garba Shehu, on behalf of the government, Muhammadu Bukhari, responded to the freezing of the accounts of #EndSARS promoters by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
CBN has asked the Abuja Federal High Court to freeze some 20 bank accounts of some of the End SARS promoters pending investigation.
However, Shehu said that Nigeria is a country governed by law, so it will not be allowed to harm. Speaking on Sunday Politics TV, Shehu said:
“Know that in this country there is only one president and a constitution, Bukhari is responsible for his government, and most of them will remain on his table.” The fact is that we are a country ruled by law, and there is a constitution that clearly spelled out in section 33, which defines the right of citizens to freely protest peacefully.
“But where peaceful protest turns into riot and robbery, there is a duty of observance of law and order, which must be fulfilled. All of them witnessed the massive looting of state and private property, especially in Lagos, Calabar, Plateau, Taraba and even PKT. and I am not particularly picky with celebrities or promoters.
This country has suffered greatly, and people should be ready to take responsibility for this. ” It would be interesting for Nigerians if there were some of those prominent politicians who promoted End SARS up to the point where it was kidnapped and captured by looters. the same forces they supported to condemn the degeneration that occurred. Some of them have not said anything yet, and we are watching.
“This country must be saved from robbers, and the interest of this country is politics, the NDP must make a statement and condemn these things unconditionally.”
