Protest rally of EbSU students over the blockade of the highway after the collapse of students during the exam
Yesterday’s collapse and the alleged death of students at Ebonyi State University (EBSU) sparked serious protests at the school.
School students blocked the Abakaliki-Enugu highway on Thursday to protest the overcrowding they faced when taking the exam on Wednesday.
Students said there was a crush that resulted in some students losing consciousness while writing their general tests (GST) in the university lobby.
Some students expressed disappointment at the overcrowding of students in a small class for writing exams.
Kelechi Nvori, a student, said it is appropriate to provide students with larger rooms so that they do not repeat themselves.
Neptune said: “It’s very sad, but there is still no operating medical center at the university.
“Some students passed out during the exam due to overcrowding in the room, which caused a crush.”
Nwory noted that the protest was peaceful and was simply a call to document their anger, as some students were unable to write the exam, which was later canceled.
In response to complaints, Dr. Ikechukwu Igwenyi, President of EBSU ASUU, confirmed to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) that there was indeed a crush at the exam center on Wednesday.
“However, he could not name the number of students who fainted during the exam.
Ebony Police spokeswoman Ms. Lovet Oda told NAN that the command is monitoring the situation to ensure security on campus.
“The police are aware of this. The commissioner, Mr. Aliya Garba, has sent officers to the scene and they have not yet submitted reports, ”Odah said.
