reaction tracks IGP order to use weapons

Yesterday, the reaction was split over the direction of Police Inspector General Mohammed Adam to police officers to use firearms for protection when their lives are in danger.

In response to recent protests, #EndSARS PGI issued an order at Ebony State Police Headquarters, Abakaliki, calling for a new campaign against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

While Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chairman of the United Progressive Party, UPP and the Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, CODER, saw nothing wrong with the PGI directive to his people, Chief Afenifere, Chieftain Ayo Adebanjo, Chieftain Supo Shonibare, chieftains of the Benue tribes and deputy of the Second Republic Junaid Mohammed called the order unsuccessful, claiming that the police chief had given his men a license to kill.

However, addressing the police and men, Adamu asked them to use their maximum force to suppress any form of violent protest, following the established rules of combat.
