Reported that Katsina Government bans WhatsApp group in schools

The use of WhatsApp groups in schools is reportedly prohibited by the Kaduna state government.

Katsina is the home state of the current President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Bukhari.

WhatsApp Messenger, or simply WhatsApp, is an American free cross-platform messaging and voice over IP service owned by Facebook, Inc. The “Group” section allows people to chat with multiple users at the same time.

According to Twitter user @ fuoyesmilegist1, the state government sent a circular to schools across the state to ban the use of WhatsApp groups.

The December 7, 2020 letter was signed by Muhammad Sada Dikko, CEO of SMES in the state.

The declaration is readable;

“I was asked to write and inform all principals to instruct the various group administrators in their respective schools to destroy the so-called WhatsApp school.

  1. The abolition of this group is necessary due to the fact that various groups are created that create problems and disobedience between the school leadership and staff.
  2. Directors should also remind their staff of a government circular prohibiting any government official from making positive or negative comments on a government act. ”
