Representatives suspend Bukhari’s scheduled attendance

The House of Representatives suspended its previous plan to brief President Muhammad Bukhari on Wednesday after it became clear that the President would no longer comply with the House’s invitation.

On Wednesday, at the plenary meeting, the Assembly did not mention in its executive document the item on the admission of Mr. Bukhari to the cell.

This was the clearest proof that Mr Bukhari, tasked with clarifying the country’s dire security situation to lawmakers, canceled the plan, confirming that the exclusive PREMIUM TIMES would back down.

All the governors of the Progressive Congress (PPP) urged Mr. Bukhari to postpone his scheduled speech.

During the evening meeting on Tuesday of the governors and the party meeting in the National Assembly, those present discussed for hours the reasons for and against the appearance of the president outside the house.

The decisions of the PREMIUM TIMES meeting became known from several sources present.

Governors were worried that their state chambers might take the opportunity to “harass” governors by pushing for frequent attendances.

On Wednesday, Rapporteur Femi Gbajabiamila, who chaired the plenary session, deliberately missed the point.

It was entitled “That the Chamber, in accordance with Order 19, Rule 8 (1) and (2) of the Permanent Provisions, admit to the Chamber of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, heads of services and other dignitaries for the purpose of receiving a speech by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic Nigeria on the security situation in the country. “
