Republic of Benin poised to become the 37th state of Nigeria
Foreign Minister Jeffrey Onyama said that the President of the Republic of Benin, Patrice Talon, has expressed his readiness for his country to become part of Nigeria.
Oniyama, who said this shortly after a closed meeting with Beninoise’s Foreign and Cooperation Minister Aurelien Agbenonchi, said that President Beninoise made the offer when he visited President Muhammad Bukhari a few weeks ago.
The OPC asks Bukhari to investigate the Shashi opposition.
“The President of Benin said that as far as they are concerned, they want (for a reason), but in fact Benin should be the 37th state in Nigeria,” he said.
“We really have to be like that. They instructed us to meet at ministerial level to develop a framework for sustainable relations. “
Onyama said during the visit, the two presidents discussed agreements between the two countries on how to end the smuggling problem once and for all after the meeting of the presidents.
