Rivers Police Headquarters Denies Killing Four Wounded IPOB Members

Rivers State was in turmoil over the weekend as police denied storming the hideout of several injured fighters who fled from Oyigbo Local Government, Rivers State, killing four of them and a nurse.

Earlier it became known that the tactical group of the Nigerian police carried out an operation, as a result of which the alleged militants were killed.

The killed militants were reportedly being treated by a nurse named simply Chichi in the hidden area of Oyigbo when the group surrounded the building and opened fire on them.

It became known that, sensing danger, one of them tried to escape, climbed over the fence, not knowing that the area was surrounded by armed police, who shot him.

The police subsequently gained access to the building and killed three while providing medical assistance, and the nurse involved in the shooting was also wounded by a bullet.

The casualties are said to have been among the militants who recently killed seven police officers in surprise and coordinated attacks against security forces along the east-west road and the Elimgbu police station.

A security source, who spoke in confidence, said the militants tried to get medical attention because of the multiple gunshot wounds they inflicted on them by the police when they were lucky.

He said: “Remember that recently militants disguised as security agents killed seven police officers as they attacked their formations along the east-west road and Elimgbu police station.

“During this attack, the Elimgbu police opened fire on them. They suffered many injuries and even abandoned their Hilux van. The victims fled to their hideout on the Irebian side of Oyigbo and hired the Uchechi nurse to treat them.

“The police tracked them down to their hideout. Three of them were already on a drip. Sensing danger, one of the militants climbed over the fence, but was killed by the detachment.

“In the end, the police got access to the building and met three of them on IVs. They tried to shoot the police, but the police shot them, and in the meantime, the woman was wounded by a bullet and died.

“I can tell you that they are members of the IPOB. Five IPOB registration books were found, many knickknacks and some weapons. You should see their body, which was previously riddled with a bullet. Although the bullets cannot kill them because of their charm, the consequences and injuries will still be visible. “

But State Police Commissioner Mr. Friday Eboka, when contacted, said the perpetrators were not police officers.

Eboka said that before the District Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area and his people arrived on the scene, the killers completed their mission and fled.

He noticed that the policemen who rushed to the scene saw only five corpses and later discovered many spells.

He said, “This was reported to the Oyigbo Police Station. The people involved are not police officers. We heard that four of them were being treated at the clinic before armed strangers arrived there in two vans, Hilux and Sienna.

“They went there and people heard shots. Before the police arrived, the gunmen got into their car and drove away. The police came across the bodies of four boys and a young woman (a nurse). I told the DPO to move the bodies while we investigate the case.

“But of course they are not cops. If there is an operation carried out by the police, it must be reported to the nearest police station. The people who did this are not police officers. He was an outsider, a militant, not a policeman.

“The people they killed were actually receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. When the police representative arrived, he received a receipt for their treatment. They found charm. They were treated for gunshot wounds. The people who killed them are not cops. “
