Rustic wedding guide

We have received so many questions about rustic wedding that we decided to make a complete guide for brides. We will tell you in detail how to organize the perfect celebration in this style, but we urge you to be flexible and not worry about little things that do not fit into a perfect picture.

What is a rustic wedding?

It has two key features:

  1. Strongly influenced by nature and country lifestyle. Imagine a village, a farm, a forest, lakes – it’s all rustic.
  2. Relaxation and romance. A celebration in this style is simple and cozy, young and guests feel free. Leave the tension, pomp and slickness to the other couple.

There are no unnecessary people at such a celebration, only close ones, so rustic is also suitable for those who arrange a chamber wedding .

Wedding location

The best option is a holiday in nature. This can be a restaurant with a separate gazebo, a country hotel , a farm, a barn, or even a summer cottage. If you have to choose a room, let it be a restaurant with an interior made from natural materials: wood and stone. Gilding, vignettes and pomp in the design will not work.

Approach to design

Rustic wedding decor emphasizes the beauty of the natural surroundings and creates a cozy atmosphere. This requires materials such as wood, stone, cork, twine, moss, cotton, linen and burlap. Colors should be neutral and slightly muted: beige, brown, green, gray.

Look for simple and concise solutions, do not be wise. For example, replace flower vases with wooden boxes, exquisite floristry with twigs and wildflowers, and instead of designer dishes, collect cups from grandma’s sets. For a photo zone, organize a cozy corner with family photos and soft armchairs.

Often brides are worried that the decor is not completely rustic and other elements slip through it. We advise you not to worry about this, because what you think is imperfection actually makes your holiday different from others.

Images of the young

How to dress to feel confident and relaxed, dress like that. The groom can wear a vest or restrict himself to trousers with suspenders. If you want to look formal, a suit will help out, but not black, but in muted shades of the wedding. It is permissible to refuse a tie, replacing it with a bow tie, or leave a tie, choosing an unusual pattern.

The bride should find a light dress that does not restrict movement. If the holiday is in nature, keep in mind that an outfit that is too long will pick up all the twigs and blades of grass from the ground. Keep your hair and makeup natural and not look like you’re at a party.

Menu features

Guests at such a holiday are fed tasty and satisfying. Place grilled chicken, shashlik, aromatic potatoes, fresh vegetable salads, homemade bread and even farm cheeses on the table. For drinks, serve lemonade, compotes, fruit drinks, cider, house wine and craft beer.

The design of the cake should be concise, without fancy decorations. In terms of flavor, we disagree with most wedding sites that advise taking a plain cream and fruit cake. The taste should only depend on your preferences, not the style of the wedding. Would you like topped chocolate or passionfruit? You are welcome! You can even replace the cake with fruit pies or sets of apple pies and other toppings.

Accessories

If you like to create little things with your own hands, you have room for imagination. Make rustic wedding invitations out of whatever materials you like, although it’s best to keep them natural. For example, why not write text on a board or a piece of birch bark? Make gifts for the guests yourself: jam, cooked by you and packed in cute jars, homemade cookies, craft soap – dozens of options!

Guests at a rustic wedding

Do the bride and groom dress easily and comfortably? Let their guests also look like. No evening gowns or tuxedos, but at the same time the dress code must be respected. Dress up for the invitee should be at least comfortable, but elegant, so it is better to put jeans aside.

Photoshoot of the bride and groom

Even if you didn’t manage to arrange a party outdoors, do a photo shoot outdoors. Any place you like is suitable for this: meadow, field, forest, river bank or even village streets. With such an environment, props are not needed, but if you really want to, choose a modern one. Some advise you to pick up details in a village theme (sheaves, carts), but we are sure that this will turn you into mummers. Better to sit on a couch in the middle of the field, or ride along a country road on scooters.
