A 400-level student at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Salaudeen Waliu, popularly identified as Captain Walz, who reportedly beat a lecturer, Ms. Zakariyyah, out of amazement after an altercation over her academics broke out on what led to the unfortunate accident …
Salaudeen Waliu, speaking to reporters from the university campus, UCJ-Ilorin, said that “months before last Thursday’s incident, he was arrested and detained for two months, thus ensuring his inability to perform SIWES duties.”
He claimed he went to the teacher’s office to beg her to help her wave the mandatory SIWES course that she missed due to unforeseen circumstances, but she always got negative responses.
According to him, he had gone to Lagos to meet a friend for the first time but was accused of being a thief and locked up by the police which led to his detention for two months.
The 400-level student noted that he continued to narrate his nasty Lagos incident to Ms. Zakariyau, but she refused to give him any grace, saying she had no choice but to join the next set which would involve a extra year.
He said that on the fateful Thursday when he walked into the teacher’s office, she ordered him out of her office.
“I got angry, I don’t know what got into me, I started fighting and she told me to leave her office, I told her that if I don’t leave, what will she do?
“Then she threw me a cup that hurt me and I started beating her,” he added.
