Dozens of fighters from the province of the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) were killed and many more injured by Nigerian Air Force fighters, PRNigeria learned.
The terrorists were killed on Friday by prolonged bombing of military jets, as they were holding a meeting with their new leader, Sani Shuwaram, in Sabon Tumbun and Jibularam, in the local government area of Mars in Borno state.
Intelligence sources, who are part of the military counter-insurgency operation, told PRNigeria that the coordinated air and ground operation was carried out yesterday, by Nigerian army and air force jets, targeting the neo -Named Wali of ISWAP, Sani Shuwaram, on an appointment with other senior commanders.
“The attacks were carried out after an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance study by the Air Task Force.
“Several jihadists were killed, including high-ranking insurgent commanders, infantrymen and Hisbah police from the ISWAP faction
A ground assessment confirmed that some of the top ISWAP commanders who were on the scene at the time of the attacks include; Muhammed Bako, commander of the special armed forces (Rijal Ann); Muhammad Malumma, supreme judge of Mars; Goni Mustafà, the Head Imam; Muhammed Ba’ana, commander of Kirta; Muhammed Ali, Emir of Kwalaram; Ibn Umar, chief prosecutor; Bakura Gana, commander of Jubularam; and Malam Musa, Amir of Jubularam. “
PR Nigeria could not confirm whether Shuwaram was affected by the strikes.
