Senate orders police to arrest protester killers #EndSARS

The police officers who shot and killed the #EndSARS protesters were in trouble after the Nigerian Senate ordered police to arrest them.

The Red House of the National Assembly made an appeal in plenary session on Tuesday.

At least six people were killed and several dozen were injured.

Senator Bukhari Abdulfatai has submitted a motion for the death of his constituent member Jimo Isiaki and the attack on Soun Ogbomoso Palace, Oba Oladunni Oevumi.

The MPs observed a minute of silence in memory of Isiaka and other Nigerians who died as a result of police brutality.

Senate President Ahmad Lavan said the anti-robbery Special Squad (SARS) behavior was unacceptable.

He expressed regret that their actions would be marked in the history of Nigeria.

“The whole point of the Nigerian police is to enforce law and order, and when SARS turned against people, people had the right to protest.

“The protest has so far yielded the desired result, and after the dissolution of SARS there will be no need to continue it again. The perpetrators of the murders must be held accountable. “

Senator Ifeani Ubah thanked Inspector General of Police Mohamed Adama for disbanding the unit.

Senator Rochas Okorocha called on the Senate to demand the immediate release of all arrested protesters in order to ensure peace between the government and the people.
