“Sheikh Gumi is not an intermediary for the shepherds, he is an intermediary” – Rino Omokri

Former presidential aide Rino Omokri said the prominent Islamic cleric Sheikh Gumi is not a mediator in negotiations with the bandits, but rather a mediator.

Reno asked why the Nigerians would allow Sheikh Gum to appear on television and protect the bandits.

Reno said this in response to Sheikh Gumi’s statement in an interview with the TV channel. Sheikh Gumi said that bandits do not kill people, but for those they killed, it is “by accident.” Gumi added that when bandits attack communities and burn houses, it is done out of revenge, and it is an ethnic issue, not a criminal one.

In response, Reno wrote, “We must have gone crazy as a nation when a character like Sheikh Gumi appears on national television and says that shepherds do not kill, and if they do, it is ‘by accident.’

“This is the same person captured by the camera telling the shepherds that it was Christian soldiers who were killing them in order to ‘ignite a crisis.’ The man didn’t even apologize for this lie. Gumi is not an intermediary for pastors. He’s an assistant!

“If I tell you a joke, you will laugh. If I repeat this, you can still laugh. If I repeat this a third time, you will think that I am crazy. If we can’t laugh at the same joke, why does Nigeria keep crying over the same tragedy? Every day the shepherds kill us and we cry. Aren’t we crazy? “
