Soldiers kill two people in Osuna (disturbing photos)
Two people were reportedly killed by agents of the Nigerian army in Ikira, the local government headquarters in the Irevole district in Osun state.
Saharan journalists realized that the problems began when some young people demanding the elimination of Akira Ikira, Oba Olatunde Falabi (Lambela III), stormed the palace and drove the monarch away.
Protesters relied on a 2014 Supreme Court ruling that it was not the ruling chamber of Falabi’s turn to sue Akira, as well as a similar ruling by the State High Court a few months ago.
Efforts by Nigerian military personnel to disperse angry youth and restore normalcy to the city created further tensions when they began to shoot sporadically.
In response, the young men started throwing stones at the soldiers and then ambushed them, ripping off their rifles.
A resident of the area told SaharaReporter that the refusal of the young men to return the rifles led to the soldiers asking for reinforcements in the process that at least two of the town’s residents were killed.
