Suspected thief specializing in tricking young women into stealing their phones, other valuables arrested in Kano

The suspect confessed when he was arrested that he had deceived four women and disappeared with their valuables.

A 22-year-old suspected thief, Muhammad Saifullahi, who specializes in dispossessing women of their cell phones and other valuables was arrested by police in Kano. The command’s spokesman, DSP DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, revealed in a statement on Wednesday, November 17, that the suspect confessed to deceiving four women and taking away their valuables.“On 11/11/2021 around 4pm, a report was received from a lady residing in Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, that a man went to their residence located in Sharada Quarters, approached her and he said he loved her5, “The PPRO declared.” He introduced himself as Muhammad of Kwandila Quarters Kano, deceived her, collected her cellphone and that of her younger brother, claiming that he will buy her a new cellphone. After collecting the cell phones, he told her that he lost the key to his motor vehicle, that they should help him find him. Since then, he has disappeared and turned off his cell phones. “Upon receipt of the report, the police commissioner, Kano state command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team from Operation Puff Adder led by SP Abdulrahim Adamu, Sharada divisional police officer to track down and arrest the culprit “The police commissioner also instructed the command’s public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Abdullahi Haruna to conduct public lighting programs on television, radio and other social media platforms on development. The Puff Adder team immediately jumped into action. The intelligence-led patrol and credible information received led to the arrest of the suspect, Muhammad Saifullahi, ‘m’, 22, of Ja’in Quarters Kano at Zoo-Road Kano.

During the preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to being adept at using seductive words to win the love of his suspicious victims and also confessed to deceiving four women and taking away their cell phones. Kiyawa said the suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
