The agitators Biafra and Oduduva are unbelievers, no different from Boko Haram.
Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi called those who bother the republics of Biafra and Oduduwa as non-believers, like the Boko Haram sect terrorizing the country.
In various parts of the country there have been requests for branch on charges of marginalization.
But speaking Saturday in an interview with BBC Pidgin, the clergyman called these people unbelievers who should not be taken seriously.
Gumi said Nigerians are committed to creating a unified country, stressing that the views of the few people who support the division of the country should not be taken seriously.
He said: “I usually cite the example of General Murtal Mohammed, the former head of state of Kano, who was killed by a group led by Buka Suka Dimka. He had a Yoruba wife. So where do you want his children to go if the nation is divided? Will they stay with the Yoruba or Hausa in the north?
“Look, let’s forget these useless young people. They are no longer different from these pastors. These people who scurry around Oduwa, Bifafra or Arev are all the same group of people from Boko Haram.
“Most Nigerians want to stay with Nigeria. And if in doubt, let’s hold a referendum. Look at elections, for example, millions of votes from all states, from both the All-Progressive Congress and the People’s Democratic Party. This means that the Nigerians are ready to adhere to a united Nigeria. This is an indirect referendum that shows that the people are ready.
“So all these young people who make the noise, whether it’s Abubakar Shekau of Boko Haram, Nnamdi Kanu of the indigenous population of Biafra and their counterpart Oduduwa, represent only a small minority of Nigerians who use ethnic, archaic and regressive feelings to destabilize the environment. nation.
“But I can guarantee that Nigerians really want to be together in peace, but in peace and justice. No segment of Nigeria will be deceived. ”
Gumi said that the fact that southern leaders are silent about such calls shows that only those with personal interests were in favor of dividing the country in the region.
He added, “I’m in Sokoto right now, there are still many Igbo traders here who don’t want to go home, so why are you telling me they want Biafra? Biafra is as much a nuisance as Boko Haram. Do you think every Nordic is Boko Haram? Most Nigerians don’t want these ethnic or religious groups. They just want peace and live together as a nation. If the Yoruba really wave to Oduwa, why aren’t their leaders talking about it? Why don’t even Igbo leaders talk about Biafra? “
Going forward, Gumi called on Yoruba and Igbo leaders to engage in dialogue with those fueling tensions in their regions, adding that similar efforts are already underway in the north.
“We expect the Yoruba and Igbo leaders to take care of their villains, while we heal the pastors and Boko Haram who are villains in the north. Each leader must convey the words to his people. Only non-believers feed on this, ”he added.
Gumi also investigated an amnesty program for bandits in the country, saying it would force them to stop attacking Nigerians.
