According to a February 2, 2020 letter signed by the Deputy Police Commissioner, Force Intelligence Bureau, Kolo Yusuf, ondo chiefs were asked to report to Abuja on March 15, 2021.
An invitation letter marked 3000 / FIB / STS / FHQ / ABJ / TA / Vol.5 / 259 said that Ondo’s leaders were being investigated for attempted kidnapping, malice and conspiracy.
The letter reads in part: “This office is investigating a conspiracy, malice, death threats and attempted kidnapping that characterizes your name. We kindly ask you to interview the undersigned officer on March 15, 2021 by 10:00 for verification. facts via DSP of Ibrahim Magu “.
In response to a statement released on Monday, concerned citizens of Ovo / Ose asked the IGP to offer an unconditional apology to the people of the community.
The group said it was surprising that the police pursued the alleged cow killers before they found those who killed their traditional ruler, Olufon Iphon, Oba Isreal Adeusi.
The late Oba Adeusi was killed by suspected shepherds in the Elegbek area on the Ifon-Ovo highway on November 26, 2020.
The statement read: “This is the result of a long meeting of caring citizens of Ovo / Ose.
“We are issuing a 7-day ultimatum to PGI to withdraw the extended invitation to Ifon leaders / leaders and to offer an unconditional apology to the Ifon people.
“To report on Olufon’s killer, or to present the level / status of the investigation to the public, or to name all the invitees who have so far been interrogated about Olufon’s murder.
“Also presenting an ultimatum to the royal fathers in the Owo / Ose Federal District and their brother Obas in Ondo State to make public their position on the offensive, insensitive and provocative invitation.
“In addition, the state governor, who is the state’s chief security officer, must appeal to the state and condemn this provocative act in which animals (cows) are superior to people.
“The Ondo State House of Assembly should urgently shorten the pause for participation in a draft anti-grazing bill sent to the House by the executive branch for immediate action.
“Since November, when Olufon was killed in a failed abduction on Owo Ifon Road, when he arrived from a security meeting at the governor’s office attended by the other Oba, no one has ever been invited, and no known investigation into this heinous act has been conducted. … …
“Inviting community leaders to account for dead cows is not only an insult, but embarrassment and a dance over the corpse of our respected royal father.
“We will not wait again for the government or its departments to protect us. While waiting for the answer to the above question, we will keep our next course of action on the chest. “
