The identity of the pilot who flew the Nigerian Air Force plane that crashed in Abuja has been revealed.
According to SaharaReporters, Flt. Lieutenant Haruna Gazman was identified as the pilot of the Nigerian Air Force Beechcraft KingAir B350i that crashed Sunday near Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
A plane en route to Minna, Niger state, crashed near the runway after reporting an engine malfunction.
Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika in a tweet called the accident “fatal” and prayed for “the souls of the dead.”
“A King Air 350 military jet just crashed near our airstrip in Abuja after reporting an engine failure on the Minna route,” he tweeted.
According to Twitter user Emmanuel McDenna (@ EmmanuelMacden1), Gazman described how a friend of his was the pilot of the unfortunate plane.
“A friend of mine was the pilot of this flight, rest, Haruna Gazman,” he tweeted.
In another tweet, McDen wrote: “The Nigerian government has disappointed you, dear Haruna Gazman. Keep resting well. You are a fighter. “
