The police fired six police officers in Kvar for this.

According to The Nation, the Kwara State Police Command fired six officers.

Command said Thursday it had fired six police officers in the past four months for alleged misconduct.

State Police Commissioner Kayode Egbetokun spoke about this in Ilorin, the state capital, at a stakeholder meeting with the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Association of Transport Employers. Highway of Nigeria (RTEAN), Nigerian Tricycle Owners Association (TOAN), Hotel Owners Association, Okada Bikers Association, student union leaders and state advocates.

Mr Egbetokun added that he approved the firing of another police officer on Wednesday this week, also for alleged professional misconduct.

The police chief, who said his commanders did not justify the indiscipline of their officers, added that many police officers had received various punishments.

The commissioner said SARS was disbanded, adding that between May and October, the command recorded 15 cases of armed robbery with the arrest of 27 suspects and the seizure of 15 AK-47 assault rifles.

He said there have been no cases of extrajudicial killings, brutality and harassment by police in the state, adding that the number of cases of extortion by the police has dropped dramatically.

Egbetokun, who invited interested parties to speak with their members about the need to maintain peace and harmony in the state, said he was proud of the peaceful behavior shown by young people in the state during the #EndSARS protest.

“Please talk to your people so that they do not copy what is happening in other parts of the country, in particular as it concerns the current wave of insecurity in many parts of the country. You can see this is no longer a # Endsars protest again with the level of destruction and looting happening in some places in the country. It looks like a new agenda of criminal elements. They loot the arsenal in order to obtain a pistol to commit atrocities after this period. We must discourage this and be careful about the type of information we access on social media. False relationships circulate that can cause disunity and chaos. We have to be careful, ”he said.

Other speakers at the meeting called for an open trial of errant officers and a public announcement of those dismissed.

Others also advised the appointment of a youth and student support officer in the police for cordial relations, as well as a youth / police liaison committee and regular meetings with stakeholders.
