Eyewitnesses told Channel Television that the politicians who were riding in one of the pilot jeeps were killed after the car lost its tire, pulled off the road and started doing somersaults. Among the dead is the leader of the Kanuri people in Lagos, Mai Masa Mohammed.

The governor was reportedly among those who transported the late chief’s corpse to his family compound in the Bulumkutu district of Maiduguri, where he was prepared for his funeral tonight.
