Thugs attack NLC protesters in Kaduna

Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) President Comrade Ayuba Wabba and other congressional leaders were attacked by thugs who foiled a peaceful protest they led outside the state government building on Tuesday morning, May 18.

Wabba led the protest hours after state governor Nasir El Rufai put him on a wanted list for holding a state protest on Monday 17 May. According to Governor El Rufai, Wabba is wanted for economic sabotage.

Ignoring the governor’s statement, NZK leaders began marching towards the state government office. However, as they passed the NEPA roundabout, the suspected criminals driving the two vehicles and KEKE NAPEP started throwing stones at him. Some criminals covered their faces by brandishing knives and sticks.

However, the police and other security personnel guarding the protesters were able to push the perpetrators away with tear gas, and one of them was subsequently stabbed to death by the protesters and handed over to the police.

It remains to be seen who sent the thugs to stop the protest.
