Thugs go crazy, set fire to the police station in Imo
Unidentified gunmen set fire to a police station in Imo state on Wednesday.
The crowd set fire to the headquarters of the Nvorubi police station in Mbaytoli LGA after continuing protests against police brutality.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Ikeokwu Orlando confirmed the incident to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) on Wednesday.
He said: “Yes, I can confirm that thugs set fire to the Nworubi police station this afternoon.
“No arrests have been made yet, but the police have launched an investigation,” he said.
Gov. Hope Uzodinma on Tuesday ordered a 24-hour curfew in Imo to end ongoing protests in the state.
The protesters ignored the curfew and staged protests in various locations across the state.
The State Fire Service was mobilized by the state government to put out the fire.
