Militants raided the village of Nagu, Katsina-Ala local government district in Benue state, killing a mother and her son and leaving many wounded.
The thugs killed the woman, her son and son-in-law after destroying part of the village of Nagu early Sunday morning, December 27.
Several people were also injured in the attacks, and many fled their homes in nearby villages for fear of being killed.
Confirming the incident, a former MP who represented the Katina-East Wing constituency at Benue State Assembly House, Mr. Yanna Yato said his family members were the victims of the attack.
“The militants arrived at about 3 am yesterday and attacked Naga, my village. They burned down part of the village, after which they killed my brother’s wife, his son and another brother of mine, “ He said.
“I cannot understand why they did it, but those who were behind the attack called me a few minutes ago on the phone of my brother’s wife, which they took after the woman was killed.
“They said that I had to tell the servicemen in Shetila to leave our post, otherwise they will continue to wreak havoc and continue killing in our communities. I reported this to a police officer in Katsina-Ala, and he is taking measures to evacuate the corpses, ”he added.
State Police Command spokeswoman Catherine Ahnen confirmed the incident.
