The Lagos State Section of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has instructed all churches in the state to seek to end their cross-services by 23:00 on December 31, 2020.
The directive is contained in a statement signed by the President of CAN of Lagos State, Bishop Stephen Adegbit.
It should be remembered that the Lagos state government has ordered all religious centers in the state to suspend night services, vigils and cross-events.
The state has also announced a 12:00 to 4:00 curfew as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
In response to the CAN order, a statement reads: “As part of our responsibility as a law-abiding organization and in response to the call made to us by the state government, we hereby order all churches to guarantee their services on the 31st. December 2020 ends at 11:00 pm so that participants can reach their homes and rest areas by 12:00 pm or midnight when curfew begins. “
CAN assured the government that “Christians will continue to be strong partners in research to see that the spread of COVID-19 will not happen and that it will become a thing of the past as soon as possible.”
