Two Nigerian Men Arrested in Cambodia for Online Fraud
Two Nigerians were arrested by the Cambodia Police Cybercrime Unit on charges of online fraud committed by unsuspecting victims.
The suspects, identified as Kingsley Obinna Nwazura, 26, and Emma Eke Onyechere, 26, were arrested in Phnom Penh for allegedly defrauding several people on social media using fictitious names.
National Police Chief Lieutenant General Net Savoen, who reported this on Tuesday February 9, said he arrested the suspects after receiving several complaints from some of their victims.
The suspects were sent to the Phnom Penh City Court for legal action.
Meanwhile, the director of the cybercrime department reminded citizens of the need to be careful when using social media.
“Please do not accept friendship requests from people you do not know, and do not trust scammers who claim to ship from overseas and ask for shipping fees in advance.” he declared.
