Two men suspected of robbers and kidnappers were arrested by a local vigilante group in Otukpo, Benue State.

The suspects, Abubakar Usman, 23, and Usman Sani, 25, were arrested at several locations around Otukpo on Wednesday morning, May 12, following information voluntarily provided by members of the public who wished to remain anonymous. They were later turned over to the police.

According to police, the two confessed to their recent involvement in robberies and kidnappings in Otukpo. Some of their victims also came forward to identify them.

Reacting to the development of events, the chairman of the local government Otukpo is the venerable. George Allie said the arrest of these suspects is a welcome development.

“I am particularly pleased with the positive feedback from residents following the security summit we held on April 30,” he said.

“You can recall that the common language used during the security / stakeholder meeting, from AIG Wilson Inalegwu Rtd to other speakers, is, ‘If you see something, say something.’ I am glad that our staff responded positively to this call. “

The President assured the residents of Otukpo and the surrounding area of ​​his administration’s commitment to fighting all forms of crime and reducing crime to a minimum.
