Uganda faced discrimination against Nigerians – Nigerian woman shares her experience

Following the arrest of Omah Lei and Thames, one Nigerian woman on Twitter accused Ugandans of discriminating against Nigerians.

The woman described how she was denied a work visa, claiming that the Ugandan authorities kept her passport for 7 months because of the appeal.

A lady on Twitter with the username @politicofareeda also recalled that the slut had shamed her and her lawyer called her “a cunt and a bitch” after refusing to bribe.

“I have been living in Uganda for a year. The state is very discriminatory towards Nigerians, do not be today. After being denied a work visa (the first time they did it for the organization I worked for, my predecessors were American / Canadians), they kept my passport for 7 months due to an appeal.

I needed to travel a little and they said that I could cancel the appeal and leave the country permanently or find another Nigerian to present my passport for insurance. They also demanded a bribe of 800,000 UGX. I refused, and my “lawyer” called me a whore.

I became so depressed that I quit my job (the contract for 2 years became 1). After the roll call was canceled, I was transported in an immigration car and escorted to passport control before handing over my passport to me. It looks like I was deported, although I was not. I cried.

So yes. Uganda is terrible for us. I have several stories of horrible treatments in East Africa, but Uganda has definitely taken over. “
