Ugwuanyi insures the woman whose husband killed her son for support rituals

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state assured the woman, Ms. Augustina Ifebuchechukwu Eze, whose 7-year-old son was reportedly killed by her husband, Chidi Onyishi, for a cash ritual that the state government will do everything in its power to ensure that she and her children do not suffer.

Speaking when he led a delegation from Gov. Ugwuanyi in commiseration with the grieving woman and her children, the governor’s special adviser for information, Steve Oruruo, said the state government would strongly support their support to overcome the shock and mitigate their suffering.

Oruruo who revealed that the governor was saddened by the news of the unfortunate incident, condemned himself to the woman and her children and prayed for the rest of the soul of the murdered child, pointing out that the act perpetrated by the father of six children (his husband) was “unimaginable and unthinkable from all points of view”.

Consoling Mrs. Eze and his sons, Oruruo who introduced Gov. Ugwuanyi’s initial cash donation to them for interim support said, “We want to reassure you that the state government will stand behind you vigorously and mitigate the suffering of your children and contribute immensely to your recovery from this shock.

“And it is the government’s desire to use all legal means to ensure that there are diligent investigations and that the course of justice cannot be subverted. The government is prepared not to allow it to be truncated.

“Everything that needs to be done will be done by the Enugu state government to ensure it finds justice and overcomes this challenge.

“Our governor is a good-minded person who is interested in your well-being and that of your children. So he sent us to come and feel sorry for you and reassure you that you will not be alone. The government will be with you and support you as we pray that God will give you a stronger reason to find comfort.

“The governor has handed over the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000.00) to you and your children in the meantime and everything else that should be done will be done and this interface will continue between you and the state government to ensure that you and the your children are at ease “.

Responding, Mrs. Eze, who said she was left speechless to Gov. Ugwuanyi’s gesture thanked the governor for his compassion and kindness, explaining that he is still in shock over the sudden death of his son.
