Vice President Osinbajo to represent Nigeria at Museveni’s inauguration in Uganda
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will represent President Muhammad Bukhari at the inauguration of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
Professor Osinbajo will join several other heads of state and government in the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Wednesday 12 May at the Kololo Independence Ground in Kampala, the country’s capital.
Nigeria and Uganda share common historical roots and maintain good diplomatic relations, including cooperation as member states of the Commonwealth, the African Union, and the United Nations, among others.
Both countries signed bilateral agreements on technical assistance corps, trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation.
The vice president, who today attended the resumption of the National Security Council meeting chaired by the president at the presidential mansion, subsequently traveled to Lagos to inspect the SecureID manufacturing facility. (SecureID is one of only three smart card companies in Africa.)
He will leave Lagos for Kampala tonight, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ambassador Zubair Dad and Special Economic Adviser to the President, Ambassador Adeyemi Dipeolu.
Tomorrow he must return to the village.
