Waitress steals employer’s ATM, withdraws 305,000 N305,000 in Osuna
Osun State Police arrested a waitress named Olayemi Lawrence for stealing and attempting to kidnap her employer, Eunice Fatai, on Tuesday.
The suspect was brought before the Osun State Court in Osogbo. Lawrence, 23, allegedly broke into Fatai’s home and stole some of her personal belongings and money. Police Prosecutor Abiodun Fagboinbo, speaking in court, said that Olayemi in December 2020 in Ilesa-Izhesh entered the Fatai residence and stole cell phones worth 150,000 Dutch pounds.
Fagboinbo also claimed that the defendant had stolen the woman’s ATM card and withdrew the amount of NR 305,000 from her account. After committing the crime, the prosecutor said the defendant threatened to demolish her boss’s house if she refused to send her the $ 500,000, adding that Olayemi also sent her threatening messages.
Crimes would be considered contradictory and punishable under Articles 410 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Chapter 34v. 2002 Osun State Laws Olayemi, however, pleaded not guilty to five counts of attempted kidnapping, attempted arson and theft from hacking. Okobe Nagite, who announced the defendant’s appearance, filed an oral petition for her to be released on bail, but the prosecutor opposed this petition.
In deciding on the petition, Magistrate Adebayo Ajala ordered the case to be transferred to Ibokun since the crimes were not committed in his main district. Ajala sent the defendant to the Ilesa Care Center and updated the case until January 18, 2021.
