"We are not recruiting" - Oyo government warns job seekers after scammers create fake website

The Oyo State Government has warned against the activities of scammers who set up fake recruiting sites to deceive innocent victims.

The state government made this revelation on Thursday.

The government said some people went around informing members of the public that the Oyo State Universal Education Board (OyoSUBEB) was recruiting new teachers.

The state government, however, described this recruitment as false and not genuine.

He advised job seekers to steer clear of scammers who intend to deceive them in the name of false hiring.

President, Oyo SUBEB, dr. Nureni Adeniran, who spoke on behalf of the state government in Ibadan on Thursday, described the recruitment as bogus.

Adeniran advised the public to be wary of scammers, explaining that the hiring of new teachers in the state’s public primary school sector is pending approval from the state governor, engineer Seyi Makinde.

Speaking further, Adeniran noted that fake recruitment is perpetrated by scammers who offer jobs to unsuspecting Nigerians in exchange for money.

He also claimed that some scammers have created fake websites to look more convincing.

“I urge Nigerians to be aware of the antics of these scammers and to notify security agencies when necessary.

“OYO SUBEB wishes to draw public attention once again to the activities of fake job traders and racketeering. We had informed the public that the Council was not recruiting, but it should be reiterated.

“We advise everyone to ignore the rumors of recruitment allegedly coming from the Council. It will not be a hidden exercise, we will duly inform the public when we are about to start the process ”.
