“We cannot afford another round of COVID-19 quarantine,” President Bukhari warns Nigerians.

President Muhammadu Bukhari said that the country’s economy will not survive the next round of the COVID-19 blockade.

The president issued a warning in his message to Muslims in Nigeria as they join others around the world to celebrate Eid al-Mawlud on Thursday, October 29th.

In his message, President Bukhari said that while Nigeria has so far successfully dealt with the pandemic by keeping numbers as low as possible, care should be taken not to spoil the second wave of the pandemic.

“Looking at trends in other countries, we must do everything we can to prevent a second wave of the pandemic. We need to make sure that our cases that have fallen don’t come back. Our economy is too fragile to withstand a new round of isolation, ”he said.

President Bukhari urged all citizens to take the opportunity to reflect on the virtues of the Holy Prophet, showing love and understanding to fellow citizens, showing patience, honesty, sincerity, kindness and generosity in all their efforts.

He called on all citizens, and especially young people, to avoid all negative tendencies manifested in the recent seizure of peaceful protests with the aim of plundering and destroying state and private property.

He also reiterated his previous promise to prosecute police officers responsible for misconduct and looters.
