We do not want a new blockade, warns Sanwo-Olu residents of Lagos
We do not want a new blockade, ”Governor Sanvo-Olu warns Lagos residents from the second wave of COVID-19.
After the second wave of the pandemic in Nigeria, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warned state residents to take COVID19 protocols seriously as the state government has no interest in a new blockade, IgbereTV reported.
Sanwo-Olu made an appeal on his social network on Tuesday evening, January 5th.
We urgently need to be more discreet in the way we live, interact, and communicate with our friends and family. Many people ignore the # COVID19 warnings and advice, exposing themselves and others to the virus.
We are in the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, which occurred between November and December 2020. Lagos reported an alarmingly high number of infections in one day yesterday (712). This means that as of January 4, we are already seeing a frightening surge in infection. Highest since the start of the pandemic.
This peak brings a total of 32,720 positive cases in Lagos alone.
This second wave came with severe symptoms, and the more positive cases we find, the more victims we need to register. We do not pray about this, but to avoid it, we must act deliberately and carefully.
In addition, we do not want to join another bloc, as this will affect the lives of citizens and, ultimately, the economy of our state and our country. Therefore, wear masks, avoid crowded places, wash or disinfect your hands regularly, and maintain social distance.
2021 will only work for us if we take # COVID19 seriously and follow the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.
We just cannot afford to relax right now.
