We Have No COVID-19 Stocks – Cross River Government Palliatives
He says bills can be seen by everyone
Following reports that COVID-19 palliatives have been amassed by the Cross River State government, Commissioner for Humanity and Welfare, Ms Blessing Egbara, said the allocation was consistent as it was not a one-off exercise.
Recall that the criminals, residents broke into various warehouses in different locations owned by the state government and took away palliative drugs from COVID-19 and rescue materials, including food and building materials.
In a late Friday night statement signed by Commissioner Ms Blessing Egbara and handed over to Vanguard, she explained that the articles were received just two weeks ago.
He insisted that no items, including harry, rice, sweet potatoes, pasta, peanut butter, and others, had been stockpiled despite what was reportedly distributed.
His words: “The Cross River State government was involved in distorting the fact that some of the warehouses raided by thugs contained food for distribution as palliatives.
“Contrary to popular misinformation, Cross River State consistently distributes food palliatives to the most vulnerable in the state.
Diffusion began with the provision of palliatives to those who needed them most through churches, followed by distribution through traditional rulers.
“This was followed by the distribution of palliatives in the Northern Senatorial District. This was followed by distribution in the Central Senatorial District.
“The food found in the forced warehouses in Calabar was received by Cacovid about a week ago for distribution in the Southern Senatorial District.
“The accounts are available for review by everyone. However, following the delivery of food, the state was ordered not to distribute palliatives until a press conference at which the Lagos-based CACOVID team was to speak.
“It should be noted that the replenishment and distribution of palliatives is an ongoing process, and not a one-time event. When stocks run out, they are replenished, so no state will have an empty warehouse, ”he said.
However, about three warehouses were completely looted by thugs and local residents, who took advantage of the situation to supply their homes in various parts of the metropolis.
