“We will reciprocate any attack that jeopardizes Kukah,” warns the youth of southern Kaduna.
Following controversy over the Christmas message of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese Matthew Kukah, the youth wing of the South Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) promised to reciprocate any form of targeted assault on the bishop, demanding the arrest of Prof. Isa Muhammad to Maishan.

The group reported this in response to a statement released by the Muslim Solidarity Forum asking Kukah to make an unconditional apology to the entire Muslim Ummah or to leave Sokoto for his 2020 Christmas message.
According to the group, the priest’s message was an attack on Muslims and they demanded that he apologize to all Muslims or leave Sokoto state. The statement of the forum was signed by the acting President of the Muslim Forum, Head of Sokoto, prof. Isa Muhammad to Maishan.
Soon the youth wing of SOKAPU accused the Muslim Solidarity Forum of trying to incite the people of Sokoto and other Nordic countries against the bishop.
The issued statement is partially read;
“The attention of the Youth Wing of the Union of South Kaduna Peoples (SOKAPU) was again drawn to the eleven (11) -point press release issued and signed by Professor Isa Mohammed Maishanu on behalf of the Sokoto Muslim Solidarity Forum on Tuesday 12th Day of January 2021.
The statement contains a request to Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah to leave the residence of the Caliphate (Sokoto), as well as an attempt to turn the peace-loving people of Sokoto and the north against the bishop for his Christmas message, in which the bishop, out of passionate patriotism, said his voice. the obvious truth when he said: “Every honest Nigerian knows that it cannot be that the non-Muslim president of the North did part of what President Muhammadu Bukhari did with his nepotism and escaped punishment.” …
We are, however, alarmed and saddened that the professor was able to obey this bass, abandoning caution and embarking on a path of religious fraud and fanaticism, deliberately trying to disguise the bishop’s message with religious connotations and further turning the Muslim general Ummah against the bishop. …
The so-called professor’s humiliating call to Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah to “apologize to the Muslim Ummah or quickly and quietly leave the Caliphate’s residence” is not only laughable and unacceptable, but also an insult to the rights of all living and living Nigerians. free in all parts of the country.
We believe that the professor’s reckless statement in no way reflects the position of such a responsible group as the Muslim Solidarity Forum. “
The youth asked the Department of Public Services to arrest Maishana, who signed the statement on behalf of the group. According to them, his arrest will serve as a deterrent to those who have already been brainwashed and misled by uncontrollable statements to Maishan, and prevent a religious war.
“While we ask the Department of Public Services to urgently arrest Professor Isa Mohammed Maishanu to serve as a deterrent to those who have already been brainwashed and misled by his unmanageable statements, and to prevent a religious war, we also urge the professor on issues of public interest and safety, to be sent to the nearest mental institution for immediate psychological evaluation for shamelessly trying to establish a connection between the message of Bishop Matthew Hassan Cook and Muslims in the face of Islam. “
The group has pledged to counter any form of attack that would put the bishop in danger.
“The youth and residents of South Kaduna are clearly warning that we will not allow further attacks on the personality and character of Bishop Matthew Hassan Cook under any pretext. Neither Professor Maishanu nor any person or group of people can cry more than grieve.
The bishop’s message was addressed to powerful powers, and in no way can it be said that they were addressed to Muslims and Islam, a religion well known for its commitment to peace.
Therefore, young people in southern Kaduna have pledged to reciprocate any form of attack directed or aimed at threatening the bishop by any group of ethnic loyalists, religious extremists and enthusiasts, ”the statement said.
