“We will start another protest if the soldiers who killed the demonstrators at the toll station in Lekki are not arrested within 15 days,” FG Group, Army said.

The federal government and the Nigerian military have been warned that there will be another protest if the soldiers who killed the protesters at the Lecchi toll station are not arrested and prosecuted.

A coalition of civil society groups said so on Wednesday after issuing a fifteen-day ultimatum to the government demanding the return of soldiers who fired on #EndSARS protesters at Lecca’s gate.

Groups including the Campaign for Democracy, CD, Foundation for Human Rights, Access to Freedom and Defenders of Peace, HURIDE, Civil Liberties Organization, CLO and Forum of Igbo Elders, IEF, have threatened with another protest as the ultimatum expires. They blamed the Lagos state government and the Nigerian military for pretending to be ignorant of the people behind the shooting, when in fact they had banded together to send troops to the toll station in Lekki, which they believed the army finally exposed on Tuesday …

Speaking on behalf of Onitsha groups, CD advertising secretary and CD president of the Southeast Region, Dede Uzor Uzor, also said the federal government should create a fund to compensate families. He said:

“The protest was peaceful and very well organized until some crime suspects sponsored by people with an interest in the government started attacking them and inciting protesters’ supporters to violence before Nigerian army soldiers were called in to fire on them.

“It is no longer a question of whether the soldiers were involved or not, the army through Major Olaniyi on Tuesday revealed the involvement of the soldiers and those who invited them, now we are concerned about the soldiers or officers who fired.

“If at the end of the two-week period, from now until November 1, 2020, the soldiers of the Nigerian army who fired despicable fire at the demonstrators do not appear to the Nigerians, we will organize the mother of all protests that Nigerians have ever seen in its history to show the world that Nigeria is not a banana republic and Nigerians are unhappy that their citizens are being killed like rats. “
