Wike ordered to deal with illegal parks and street trading

Rivers State Governor Niesom Wyck has ordered action against illegal parking, auto repair shops and street trading across the state from January 4.

Wyck, who ordered the New Year’s broadcast to government officials on Thursday, also disapproved of the installation of kiosks in streets and other public places.

“In addition to being an inconvenience to the public, these activities and facilities impede traffic and pose a serious threat to public safety to such an extent that no responsible government can tolerate.

“With a grace period, we have no choice but to order immediate suppression and stop these illegal operations from January 4, 2021,” he said.
